Week ONE

Prayer… To be read everyday

Lord I do believe, help my unbelief during this new day. Help me to live my life today with the faith and courage necessary to overcome my fear.

Seize my heart today and protect my mind so I may follow you and not the voices of the past. Forgive me when my seeing and thinking get so distorted that I allow my fear to control me, and paralyze my ability to act. Set me free today to care about people, live the adventure, and handle all the comes at me.

Lord… I ask you today to keep me:

  • Free from listening to the voices of rejection.
  • Free from the past messages that I don’t measure up.
  • Free from the false belief that something will go wrong and I will fail.
  • Free from the lie that the future will never come, and the dream will never occur.

DAY 1– Joshua 1: 1-5

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Text ONE thing that you pull out of this… especially as it relates to God’s promise to Joshua, and how it relates to you and where we are at.

DAY 2 – Joshua 1:6-9

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Text ONE thing that was key for Joshua … as he sought to be strong and courageous. What does that say to you?

DAY 3 – Mark 6:45-52

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.

Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 51 Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.

Text ONE way this story applies to you and what you are facing. What stands out to you?

DAY 4 – Isaiah 43:1- 3

But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

Text ONE thing that stands out to you that God promised to the Israelites? What holds you back from claiming that for yourself right now.

DAY 5 – 2 Timothy 1:6-9

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

Text ONE thing you need the most today as you start this new week… Is it power, love or self-discipline? Why do you need it?

DAY 6 – Job 42:1-6

Then Job replied to the Lord:

“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.

“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you,
and you shall answer me.’
My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

Text me one thing that stands out about what Job is saying back to God, even though God had allowed  ruin to happen to him and his dreams.

DAY 7– Proverbs 3:1-6

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Text ONE way you are (have been) leaning on your own understanding and how you need to re-orient your thinking.
